pradhan senapati

''Pradhan senapati'' (Nepali: प्रधानसेनापति), literally meaning "chief general" (with the word ''pradhan'' meaning "chief") but usually translated as "chief of the army staff", is the title of the professional head of the Nepalese Army. The rank was considered to be an equivalent of a general of the army.〔Library of Congress, (Country Studies, Nepal )〕 An even higher rank, that of ''atirathi'', was held by the King of Nepal as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. After the end of the monarchy, the insignia that had been used for ''atirathi'' was adopted by the professional army head together with a "four-star" collar tab it now denotes.
The rank of ''pradhan senapti'' (Nepali: प्रधानसेनापति) is held by General Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana of the Nepalese Army.
